Fall in Love with What You Do
There are so many heavy things going on in the world that are outside of our control. Heavy things which can only weigh us down and make us feel discouraged. Things that can complicate not only our hearts but also our businesses. With everything going on that’s not in our control, I still feel that there are things within our control that we can do to move us in the right direction. Into a positive direction.
And that starts with our mindset. There are a lot of things we can’t control like COVID-19, illness, things going on in the political arena, and more. But there are some little things we can do daily that will help us get back on track in remembering our goals.
So what are some of the things we can and should focus on going forward?
● GRATITUDE.
How about starting a gratitude journal? Or maybe try meditation, a prayer ritual, or whatever will help you clear your mind and focus first thing in the morning.
● HAVING A POSITIVE OUTLOOK.
Wake up and tell the universe it is going to be a good day. Open a door for someone. Do a small random act of kindness. Straighten your shoulders and stand tall to face the day.
● SMILING MORE. LAUGHING MORE.
You’d be surprised how much better your day will be if you face it with a smile on your face and a laugh ready on your lips.
● OUR FOCUS.
What you decide to focus on will magnify. Negative thoughts breed negative experiences. Focus on the things that make you happy and what you can do to make others happy.
● TAKING IT A DAY AT A TIME.
You can’t control tomorrow or next year or even five years from now so don’t let it bog down your mind. Focus on today and how amazing you’re going to make it.
Now that we understand some things in our life are just about having the right mindset, let’s move on and talk about some of the little things we can do in our business that will help us move in the right direction, propelling our business forward toward success.
1. Set Boundaries.
Set boundaries and stick to them so you don’t feel overwhelmed in your personal life because you allow your business life to overlap. Customers will respect your boundaries, but first, they have to know they are there.
2. Learn & Evolve.
We have to constantly evolve as a person, a business owner, and as a licensed profession. We need to constantly be educating ourselves and look at the trends and things that were happening five years ago. Read a new book. Invest in yourself and your education. If not money, then time.
3. Switch it Up. & Fall Back in Love.
Maybe you need to make some changes to feel rejuvenated in your business. Change yourself with a new hairstyle, wardrobe, or even a nice pair of shoes. Change your business by moving furniture around, getting new magazines, or decorating differently. Fall back in love with your profession by putting more time and love into the little things.
4. Automate Things. & Update Your Systems.
Automation can be vital to success. Create info templates for your services, teach people how to pre-prep for their salon visit, or automate appointment scheduling and follow-up online. It can save you time, money, and even get people excited about their upcoming experience. Also… when was the last time you updated your systems like your team member systems, refund policies, and more? They should be updated regularly to keep your business flowing smoothly.
5. Value Your Team Members. & Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People.
Value the people around you. Not just their work but also their opinions and ideas. Inspire and lead your team members and make them feel like valued members of your team. Also, be sure to surround yourself with like-minded people who inspire and encourage you. You are who you surround yourself with.
As you can see, you absolutely have control over your mindset, your business, and the present. Don’t worry about what you don’t have control over since it’s out of your hands anyway and can only lead to a negative mindset.
